In the play Antigone, her uncle Creon became the king after the death of her father Oedipus. When Creon became king he tried to be too controlling by making laws that had not been made by the Gods. When this happened, Creon made laws that he had to recall because of the lack of justness of them. In the end, Creon was embarrassed after being proven wrong. This embarrassment is a result of being too controlling.
Being too controlling causes problems in other environments as well. An example of this is on the basketball court. Suppose a basketball team has a member who always tells the other teammates what to do. In some cases this could be good because the teammates need a leader to keep the team motivated, however if it is excessive controlling then the rest of the teammates will find it annoying and not want to listen to the controlling team leader. This is another instance when an individual destroyed themselves by being too controlling.
So what exactly did we learn from this? We learned that from being too controlling, an individual will certainly create their own tragic ending. An individual must find a balance between leadership and being too controlling in order to avoid a tragic fate like Creon.
